How do you know they have not been compensated?
Am very sure they have been duly notified before hand.

If the land which their property sits on does not have Lagos state government gazette. Then apart from the demolition, they still owe government money for illegally building on government lands and be arrested until they pay No sentiments.

People went to illegally build on Gen. T. Y. Danjuma's land. They got quit notice over six months ago. They should take heart.

What if that big-headed man was never a governor and maybe he was previledge to own a property in lagos with his life savings and he now stand and watch it pull down, ofcourse these properties can go thru ratification with d governmnt with all perfect documents,i just can't imagine the waste of funds mehn.unneccesary hardship
It's time for people to stop building houses anyhow with the hope of ratification. Government has a plan, follow it and save yourself headache and embarrassment.

If demolition of new houses is what you call development, then NIGERIA is doomed.

I was going to wish it to you and your family members, but that will be very bad of me.

Demolition of houses is no where near development in my opinion.Peace.

this is wickedness, most of this houses were built during fashion regime in this same Lagos, he (fashola) licensed that land before they started building. Things like this happen only in Nigeria where incoming governors ND president abandone the project and plan of the former

Have you taught of the fact that the houses have not being completely knocked down. So is it possible that the houses have contravened certain building regulations. Is it too our much to be law abiding when developing housing units. And you start to compare us with western countries. In London you will already ve building approval before you start building. It's common sense
Abeg jooooo.

the government is not free to render those who are affected homeless just like that, they are given a notice period. people just dont care, they wait until the government acts and that is when the begin to cry fowl.

most of these people sef dont even have papers to claim compensations... and that is where their problems begin.

As if the nigerian government is a government. angry

IF U DO A PROPER CHECK 90% OF THOSE HOUSES BELONGS 2 IGBOS, 10% 2 YORUBAS N OTHER TRIBES WHILE 0% 2 NORTHERNERS. I KEEP TELLING MY IGBO BROTHERS, STOP BUILDING IN ANOTHER MAN'S LAND BUT MOST WOULDN'T LISTEN. ONE NIGERIA IS ONLY AN IMAGINARY WORD DAT ONLY EXISTS IN SOME PPLES DREAMS.

If you are familiar with the area, you would not say that. The proportion of Igbos or easterners can not be more than 30-35% in that area. Even such a high figure is down mainly to the fact that most people are relatively new migrants to the area & they are attracted by new developments.

It is good to be enlightened rather than miseducate people. The two main protagonists are actually a Yoruba man and another from Kogi. They are the parties to the dispute over what was a family land. The land was acquired by government a while ago through the NTDA, new towns devolepment agency. The contention was that it was an illegal acquisition by government.

Those who understand land matters in Lagos would be familiar with such an issue. The root of the title is in dispute. The matter is still in court. The demolitions were unnecessary at this time. The order did not appear to come from Alausa. Miltary personnel were used to enforce the demolition. The matter is being dealt with.
