Smartphones in Huawei’s Y-Series have always been the most affordable in Huawei’s big catalogue. The Y6 Pro (also G-Power) is still very much in the market but the company has already introduced a new member to the Y-series product line. Huawei Y6 II brings something new to the table, and it’s the company’s homegrown HiSilicon Kirin processor majorly found in it’s more expensive devices.

Before now, all devices in the Y-Series sport MediaTek processors. According to a representative of the company, the move from a third-party chip on its budget-friendly product line to its own Kirin processor will help the company create a much better product with improved performance.

Huawei Y6 II was actually released around September and it has been available in some Asian countries before now. The device comes with a 5.5-inch screen with HD resolution. A 13MP camera sits at the back while the selfie camera comes with an 8MP sensor. Huawei Y6 II runs on HiSilicon Kirin 620, an octacore processor clocked at 1.2GHz. Of course, there’s another CAM-L32 model powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 meant to be sold in certain markets.

The Y6 II comes with a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and ships with Android Marshmallow which runs behind EMUI 4.1. The random access memory is pegged at 2GB and there’s a 16GB internal storage which is expandable with up to 128GB SD card. It is 4G-enabled and should work with Nigerian 4G networks based on the network bands seen on its specifications sheet.

As for the price, very little is known at the moment but there are speculations the retail value might be around 65,000.
