Python is the go to for data analysis . especially munging data and moving it around the place.

Take a look at anaconda and pandas.

you can load a data frame as so

import pandas as pd
df = pd.read_csv('sample.csv')

each columns can be accessed by name

df[col1] or df.col1

it's easier than R.

but I dont use R for stats, once I clean data in pandas/python I move to spss
