Chelsea's John Obi Mikel is close to a free transfer to Chinese side Tianjin TEDA, who have offered to see off competition from Marseille and Valencia. A picture was shared on Chinese website Webo of former Mikel shaking hands with a Tianjin club official and holding the club's shirt. Mikel, who had been frozen out of Chelsea's first team this season with N'Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic, Nathaniel Chalobah and Cesc Fabregas ahead in the pecking roder, will reportedly earn £140,000 a week. The 29-year-old Nigerian captain has only six months left on his contract and has been allowed to talk to clubs since December, with Chelsea allowing him to go for free. Mikel was reluctant to move to China at first, as he looked for a move that was best for him and his family. Talks in London with the CSL side have reportedly convinced him to move. Mikel is Chelsea's longest-serving player after John Terry, but hasn't played for the London side since their 1-1 draw at Anfield back in May 2016.
