Dami Paul – Goalkeeper

The agile Paul was top choice when Nigeria hosted the 2009 U17 World Cup.

He will thereafter feature for the Flying Eagles as they won the 2011 African Youth Championship in South Africa, after that it seems things never really worked out for him except for now when he just joined newly promoted NPFL side Katsina United.

Let’s hope he re-ignites his once promising career.

Aigbe Oliha – Defender

Things didn’t really change for him as he still plays for his Tunisian club outfit ES Zarzis, he has been with them since 2011. Asides playing in the 2009 U17 World Cup, he also represented Nigeria at the 2013 African U-20 Championship, nothing was heard of him since then.

Mohammed Aliyu – Defender

After the World cup in 2009, Aliyu’s career looks bright after he signed for Villarreal in 2010, he spent a year without making any appearances then left in 2011 to join Ukranian side,Tavriya. making 4 appearances in his 3 years spell with the Ukranian Premier League side. He last played for Saxan in Moldova and also represented Nigeria at the 2011 African youth champinship.

Ogenyi Onazi – Midfielder

Very much one of the most successful out of the then U17 squad.

Onazi joined Lazio in 2011, alongside his teammate, Sani Emmanuel. The pair trialed in England, Greece and Italy following appearances at the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, in which Nigeria reached the final on home soil, losing to Switzerland.

Onazi was first promoted to the Lazio first team during the 2011–12 season after appearing at youth level. He made his Serie A debut as a substitute in the penultimate match of the season, replacing Senad Lulić in the 90th minute. Lazio recorded a 2–0 victory over Atalanta at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia in Bergamo.

He has been capped by Nigeria 28 times, scoring twice. He currently plays for Trabzonspor, featuring 10 times and scoring twice.

Fortune Chukwudi – Defender

Dubbed “captain fantastic”, he played a key role in the team’s road to the final, but things went bad for him after the tournament after evidence was released that he is actually 25 not 16 as he claimed. Nothing was heard of him since then until this year when he joined Ifeanyi Ubah.
