The Avalon compares really well with most merc or BMW. You have this feeling that they were built to directly compete with the Germans, and the japs did quite a good job. I am not referring to those old Avalons tho.

The day I handled a limited 07 Avalon, I was shocked! You slow down and take a corner, once you left the corner and press the throttle, the car will just pump out power and totally switch to attack mode and u start wondering if you are actually driving a Toyota. I didn't even try it on sport.

Nice leather seats, drivers seat eternally pumps out cold air whether the AC is on or not. The back seats have a recliner, 12speakers audio system. The Avalon is on a totally different level.

The Avalon you drove comes with genuine leather and wood trims and not some simulated plastics or faux leather and an 10 speaker JBL synthesis audio system with hot and cold air ventilated seats.They sports a 3.5l 270bhp engine mated to a 6sp auto.

Now, come up to 2012-date models, these cars had Q- chargers installed in them (to wirelessly charge phones and also stream music), soft touch sensitive type audio and HVAC controller surfaces and HID quadrabeam and LED headlamps with AFS intelligence. I think its got 10 airbags as at 2011 year model in addition to their numerous safety features.
Go check their NHTSA crash ratings, they were given top safety ratings and picks by IIHA which should tell you they were intentionally thoroughly well built.

Now, what isn't luxurious or top class about these cars?

That's curtesy of the mean ass 2GR-FE engine (3.5L V6) This same powerplant is also found in the Camry, Highlander, Sienna, Venza, Lexus RX350 and ES350, though with different outputs.
