Help! I Feel Stagnant, What Can I Do by profstar(m): 8:08am On Jan 11
Good day everyone,
I am in this stage of my life where I feel I'm stocked or better put, I've stopped growing career wise and academically (and it is affecting every other part of my life).

This is my story, I started ICAN as a fresh economics graduate in 2015, so I started from foundation (PE1), then, I got a job as an accountant late 2015, the job is so time consuming that I literally don't have time for myself, wake up 5am and get home 9pm, Monday to Saturday).

I couldn't write a single diet all through out 2016 due to my inability to attend classes and read up. I know you might be thinking why can't I ask for space at work in order to keep up with my ICAN, the thing is, my company is like a one man business which is own and managed by someone who gives no concern for staff welfare. There is this generally known fear in my place of work that the more the permission you are given for personal stuff, the closer you get to the gate of the company. In fact, in less than 6 months, I was already the 2nd oldest staff (the rest were fired for one simple issue or the other).

At the end of 2016, when I had to review my life for the year, I discovered that I literally achieved nothing, even the experience, got to a level where I wasn't learning anything new.

I know it's not easy to get a job, but being stagnant is somewhat worst.
At the beginning of 2016, I came up with several plans to enable me still study, which include: 'Transit reading', 'work-and-read strategy', 'before-bed reading', etc they all failed as 'stress' couldn't allow any to thrive. This is 2017, nothing seems to have changed except my work load which has tripled without corresponding increment in renumeration.

Being a Chartered Accountant is everything to me, it's one of the component of how I see myself in the next 5years and beyond. Now this dreams seems to be a mirage.

Please help, what can I do, have you once been in this kind of situation, please advise me.

I really appreciate.

Pardon my typo, ...typing in distress.

Have ever considered some change of environment or job?
Could it be connected with the type of associations you keep?
Have you streamlined your priorities and possibly cut them down to focus only on a few achievable ones instead of biting more than you can chew?
Do you really have a healthy sleeping habit?
These are a few questions you may need to frankly ask yourself. Interestingly, the cause of your situation, and the solution, might even be simple.

Its really very difficult to achieve work life balance these days because of the kind of work we have. Even basic things like eating or taking a bath may be so tiring!

Since your present pressing desire is to Charter, I think you should give it sometime and take it step by step. I am sure u are looking out for better opportunities which could avail u more time. Until then, you can register for one course or two courses at a time instead of all four. Then u cud be able to manage d limited time u have.

Of course I read it o; I was only suggesting a RE-consideration of certain things, based on my limited knowledge of your real situation. I just felt concerned; not that I meant to offend you.

Thanks for the advice but the thing is i have even try to do just one course, it still didn't work, I was still unable to cover just 10% of the materials.

OSHA comes to my mind

Nigeria is a really terrible country with a failed system..

The psychological/mental state of an employee should be paramount to the employer..
Sincerely its not your fault.. This we Call occupational bullying..

Ther3 should be pre-employment analysis done... And during th3 job also.. This to ensure you are not been stressed out... The effect of stress cannot be over_emphasized, unfortunately we live in a failed system...

Am sorry bro.. Would actually advise you get a better job.... You can't keep 'keeping your job' at the expense of your individual growth

Soldier go, Soldier come... Barrack . . . . . . . You know the rest

I KNOW THE ANSWER TO YOUR PROBLEM
I had a similar story sometime in 2013, working as a contract staff in a popular bank. I was always top of any training class, met my targets and outperformed all the full staff, yet there was no hope of conversion to a full staff! I got so frustrated with life as my meagre salary of just N56,000 compared to full staff pay of over N200,000 for entry staff was hardly enough to pay my monthly bills including transport costs to and from work. I ended up borrowing to make ends meet which turned out to be an even bigger mistake as the bank charged me a very high interest rate and the small business which I invested the money on just to get additional income failed miserably.

I was so depressed until I summoned courage to resign my job and seek for greener pastures. That's when I had a divine encounter that changed my life forever! Now I own my own business, have my own home and ride a very good car in addition to travelling around the world as I please. I am doing something I love so well, and also making serious profit from it.

Do you know how lucrative visa packaging is in Nigeria? You have no idea and that is just a tip of what I can reveal to you. If you are interested in finding out how you can liberate yourself from mental slavery, call me NOW on: 09090887269

Any other person who's interested in making cool income should also contact me ASAP. Dont waste this golden opportunity of becoming real boss.

I perfectly understand your plight as i have faced similar challenges. I have always studied on my own and i've been lucky to pass a few courses. I have two courses left in skills and i am determined to pass it this may diet. To that end, i have negotiated with my boss and i am beginning tutorials this weekend.

I have created a group on facebook called icanstudygroup where i will upload my lecture notes on weekly basis to assist students in facing this type of challenge cos i know what it feels like. I'm using this medium to ask those who would not mind sharing their notes to send a mail to teejournals@gmail.com so i can make such people admin and they can upload at their convenience.

It will also be a platform to share knowledge especially in difficult areas and compare notes as well.

I do hope you find the help you need.

Regards.
