Ehhn so because na laudable achievement you wan call her Nigerian abi? Una dey see una double standard of reasoning. If na drug trafficking scandal now una go dey shout Igbo, Biafra and all what not. Like it or not, She is IGBO and we're eternally proud of her and our being. Same way we claim all the drug traffickers both the ones alive, in jail and executed. It is not our fault, it is what happens when you're bombed, blockaded, and starved to death only for your wealth to be confiscated and you're given 20 pounds to start life afresh

You sabi me before...I'm no racist bro..
But if you must know, that's Google.com.ng. Not the usual Google.com

wow great woman.
to find such a great mind again will take atleast 50years, if the present situation continues.

people these days hardly read a book.
many peeps now find it more convenient to glue their eyes on the computer screen,
where there is limitless distractions and reduced attention span.

reading books to me still remains the best.

OP, Admin and mods are intellectually challenged.
I posted the correct report with YouTube video by Google earlier in the morning. But the mods did not forward it to the front page, until another poster copied and posted this report that is giving the impression that Flora Nwapa is still in the present tense.
Google is celebrating her 86th birthday as a memorial tribute.

Nigeria has really contributed greatly to women literature. Talk of great women writers like Flora Nwapa, Zaynab Alkali (the first woman writer from Northern Nigeria), Buchi Emecheta, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Lola Shoneyin and many others. This country is great. The problem remains corruption.

legendte:
They said we caused the war. Few military boys carried out a coup and the blood thirsty tribe killed our people. Awo supported the Aburi accord and later advised Gowon to do otherwise. Ojukwu had no choice but to defend his people. 244+ tribes against one tribe. Out of nothing they created things and formed a country. Foreign nations with their interest assisted the 244+ tribes to fight one tribe. Our Engineers created weapons and refined our oil. We matched stronger military to military. The very Awo had to advise Gowon to block foods for the innocent civilians. Ojukwu started the war to protect his people. In his judgement, there was no need to keep on the fight when his people started dying. He stopped the not because he was afraid nor because of hunger but because of his people. He was a brave soldier, educated and wealthy.
Awo made sure we got just twenty pounds irrespective of how much you had. Our properties were declared abandoned property.
50 years later, the property grabbers are suffering even amidst of plenty. The very Awo was jailed and he later took his life. The blood thirsty tribes are being paid in their own coin. The 244+ tribes are no better.
Today, no single tribe is more powerful than the Igbos in any human endeavour. Be it sports, education, entertainment, business and so on.
We are Igbos and Igbos we shall remain.
Igbo kwenu!

Somebody, please give this man a 3 standing O!!!

....Truer words have never been spoken.

now the question is WHERE ARE THOSE BOOKS NOW? Why are they not being published again? if her books can give birth to great writters like Chimamnda, imagine hw many more great writters dey can inspire.

but nobody is asking about the whereabout of the books...typical of youths these days.

we like celebrating past great leaders...bragging about how dey com from so so tribe without wanting to walk in dier footsteps.

If google didn't celebrate her I would have never heard of this woman or her works.
It's sad when we don't celebrate ours. it takes foreigners to tell us our own history, culture.

Our educators are failures. No brain to do any research except recycling the same things they were taught.

God bless her... hopefully I'll get to read some of her books.
