We all know the economic situation of our country, it makes others rich and others poor but whichever side you belong to there are certain steps you can take to save some money even as you are schooling. Many students have very low incomes and the prospect of hefty debts to pay off, so it’s not surprising that money is a major source of anxiety for most of them. No matter who you are there are a number of few adjustments you can make in your life and save some money for yourself as a student.

#1 SHARE ROOM WITH OTHERS

Renting hostel apartments as a student can be a huge expense. Look for people you would be comfortable living with and search for cheap apartments together. Splitting the cost of rent between two to four or even five people can save you a lot of money on rents and bills.

#2 COOKING YOUR OWN FOOD

Cooking your own food can save you some money than eating out. Whether it’s at fast food chains or upper-class restaurants, the cost of eating out is greater than that of cooking at home. If you want to cut down your budget to be able to save money then you have to limit eating out and start preparing your food at home. Not only will you save money, you’ll improve your cooking skills and spend quality time with your friends.

#3 PLAN YOUR SPENDING

Carefully planning your spending may sound like a lot of work, but it will guide you in your spending so that you don’t overspend your income. You just need to make a list of all your outgoings and any income you have, then set yourself a spending limit. Take out only what you need from the budget each day and avoid unnecessary expenses that do not form part of the budget.

#4 OPEN A SAVINGS ACCOUNT

If you haven’t already opened one of these, it will be an important step in beginning to save money. Having a savings account will help you to save your leftovers or extra cash for future use rather than spending it on items that you don’t really need. Research different banks in your city and the types of accounts they offer. Ask for complete details about any fees or costs that are associated with each account. Read More
