Do you want to get a blue tick on your Twitter account? Twitter verification for musicians is now easier than ever, offering a great way to give your social media presence the professional look that’s sure to draw more attention to your posts.
Anyone can now apply for a blue tick. Just follow these steps demonstrating how to get verified on Twitter as a musician, and you could join the ranks of global superstars boasting that famous blue tick next to their name.

By following the steps below, you stand a chance of getting your Twitter account Verified as a Musician.

1. Complete all sections of your profile including a profile picture, cover photo, name, website, birthday and bio.

If you haven’t already, make sure you’ve filled out all of these important sections of your Twitter profile. You can do this by clicking the ‘Edit Profile’ button on your page. To have the best chance of verification, it’s recommended that your name, bio, profile photo and cover photo all correctly represent you as an artist.

Including your birthday in your profile is another great way to give your account more legitimacy. But remember, if you don’t want everyone to see your birthday, you can simply hit the lock icon to make it private.

2. Confirm your phone number and email address.

Make sure to confirm both your email address and phone number so Twitter knows that you are who you say you are. You can find these options under the ‘Account’ and ‘Mobile’ sections of your Settings menu.

3. Make sure your tweets are set as ‘Public’

To make all of your Tweets public, go to your Twitter security and privacy settings and uncheck the ‘Tweet privacy’ box.

4. Submit a Twitter verification form

You’ll need to be logged into your account to complete a Twitter verification form. You’ll also need let Twitter know why you deserve to be verified within 500 words, and include at least two links to websites which support your verification claim.
How to increase your chances of getting verified on Twitter

While these simple steps show you how to get verified on Twitter, there is no guarantee that you’ll be accepted. Here are some tips to increase your chances of securing a blue tick.

– Be as active as possible on Twitter. Make sure you’re engaging with your followers and posting regularly to show Twitter you’re an avid user.

– Embed a ‘Follow’ button on your website, so visitors can follow you directly from your site.

– Have a relevant and current cover photo. For example, as a musician, a photo of you performing live, or a recent album cover shows you are an active artist.

– Submit more than the minimum of two links when applying for your blue tick. The more links, the better, and ideally you’ll want to provide five. If you’re a musician currently selling music on iTunes and other online platforms like MTN MUSIC+ and Cloud 9, a link to this can also work in your favour.

– In your 500-word pitch, rather than simply saying how great you are, explain how verification would not only benefit you, but other Twitter users too. For example, are you being confused with another similarly named artist? Are your fans having trouble finding you? These are excellent reasons for verification.

Twitter also offers some advice on what you should do before applying for verification, which you’ll find here. Unfortunately, not everyone who applies will receive a sought-after blue tick, but with applications open to everyone, you stand a better chance than ever before. Good luck!
