MAN INHUMANITY TO MAN: A CASE STUDY OF WOLE OGUNYEMI {OSOPADEC CHAIRMAN}

In a place like Ilajeland, blessed with the liquid Gold, where the desire of the people is just to receive their share of the oil money, and gladly fight for it if nothing comes, change in such society is a dream? However, in such a society, Our task now is not so heroic as fighting a war, but it may be as important to recognized our limitations, to restore the promises of our neglected society and push away from governance Machiavellians like Pastor Wole Ogunyemi, who omnipotent grace brought to power, to revive our society from shambles, shackles, and state of stunted growth, development and darkness. However, who abruptly became power drunk, basking in the power and glory of their positions, determined to lick our developmental funds to stupor .

This is to call the attention of concerned individuals, Security personals, Ondo State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria to the ordeal of National Association of Ilaje Students, with the Osopadec. The commission whose boss is Pastor wole Ogunyemi was visited by patriotic leaders of NAIS, to have an intellectual discuss with him on the need for development in Ilajeland and to clear the rumour regards the deliberate exclusion of 2013/2014 Ilaje students from payment of the 2013/2014 Osopadec Bursary| Scholarship by the Chairman after the Governor signed a sum of #300, 000, 000 {Three hundred Million} for Bursary Payment. This decision by the chairman is satanic, born out of greed, dishonesty, and unveiled the corrupt tendency of the chairman, a pastor to the core which are unfit for the next Governor of the State. To me it shows the start of marginalization, subjugation, dehumanization, suffering and wickedness that awaits Ondo State should a man unpatriotic and insincere with a little thing be entrusted with the entire state affairs.

After Our amiable Governor Olusegun Mimiko Signed a sum of #300, 000,000 for the payment of Osopadec 2013/2014 Bursary, the chairman summoned NAIS Presidents of Various Universities for flag off; at this flag off meeting the chairman stated that he was going to pay nothing less than 3,000 Ilaje students. Presidents who known the detrimental effect of this and who truly represents the share aspirations of their fellow Omuros blatantly protested and stood against the flag off for payment and demanded for list of students to be paid. The chairman urged them to allow the flag off, they insisted, No List! No Flag Off! No Payment! Faced with stiff opposition, the chairman agreed to get the list ready on Friday. The next day, Friday, the chairman travelled to Canada for his daughter’s wedding and to our greatest surprise same Friday, some selected students started receiving alert. Until now no 2013/2014 Ilaje students has received the bursary, and some 2012/2013 Ilaje students were deliberately omitted for payment. What we don’t understand is; Did the chairman spent our Bursary for his daughter’s wedding, celebrated with all pump and pageantry in London? Did he keep our money for his Governorship Campaign, intending to spend it wastefully just the way Jonathan and his thieving sycophants stole billions for the 2015 Election Campaign, thus licking Nigerian Economy to stupor? Or did he keep our Money to buy exotic cars and build gigantic houses just like his predecessor, the heartless criminal Debo Ajimuda did? Well, this questions shall get the appropriate answers if at last Ogunyemi do not pay Ilaje students admitted in the 2013/2014 Academic session.

Moreover, from our lengthen discussion with the special dignitaries of the commission, it was crystal clear that the commission lack adequate knowledge to put in place clear headed plans of development in Ilajeland and are determined to lick our developmental funds to stupor, thereby leading to the underdevelopment of Ilajeland by Ilaje sons and daughters. More so, from our observation of the way Ogunyemi talks and rats, we discovered that Ogunyemi was born perfect and grew up with a life mission to fight against injustice, decadence and corruption, however, have been short changed by the taste of power, basking in the glory, pump and pageantry of his power, forgets his life mission.

Hence, it suffice to remind him that, Our bursary is our right, our entitlement for damages done by oil and gas exploration which include coastal/river bank erosion, flooding, spread of exotic species, agricultural land degradation, gas flaring, damage to archaeological sites that are of historical antecedence and cultural importance, Oil pollution which kills fish, their food sources and fish larvae, and damages the ability of fish to reproduce, causing both immediate damage and long-term harm to fish stocks. Oil pollution also damages fishing equipment and pollutes drinking water in wells. Thus, causing Respiratory problems, coughing up blood, skin rashes, tumors, gastrointestinal problems, different forms of cancer, and malnourishment, were commonly reported ailments in many communities. When compared with other oil producing region of the world, analysis of poverty and human development in Ilajeland is very discouraging and dishearten. Ilajeland can simply be said paradoxically as a mother who feeds and feasts her family, but suffers malnutrition herself. Instead of facing the ecological and sociological conditions of the Ilaje people, that generate abject poverty, misery and backwardness in Ilajeland, which is the direct outcome of the reckless and uncaring disposition or attitude of multinational oil giants that explore and exploit our vast oil resource and left Ilaje people in a state of chronic squalor and abject poverty, the Chairman take solace in robbing us of our bursary.

Ogunyemi must take cognizance that The Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) was established as an interventionist agency on October 27th, 2001 by Ondo State through its holistic approach to development challenges and not to rob Ilaje students of Bursary payment, but to be engaged in the rehabilitation and development of oil producing areas in the state and other development projects. The commission will do the above, through the 40% of the 13% oil derivation fund accruing to Ondo State which will be allocated to the commission. Hence, it is sacrosanct to say that Ogunyemi and the Commission at large, through collaboration with Oil giants are responsible for the backwardness and underdevelopment in Ilajeland, cause, there is no community in Ilajeland that can boast of basic social amenities such as road network, portable water supply, health facilities or electricity blackout for more than five years. The fact that Ilajeland has no companies or that Oluwa Glass has long gone into extinction and no effort is made to revive it or provide new companies that will create job for unemployed Ilaje Youth and the perpetual blackout in Ilajeland are evidence that top officials of the commission siphon or divert Ilajeland developmental funds for self use.

The recent deliberate omission of legitimate Ilajeland students from 2012/2013 bursary payment and the vow of Ogunyemi not to pay 2013/2014 Ilaje students after the Governor had sign #300,000,000 for 2013/2014 Bursary payment is a clear evidence of cheat openly and broad day robbing and a valid claim how previous Osopadec Chairmen divert Money meant for the development of Ilajeland for their personal use, thereby underdeveloping Ilajeland and jeopardizing the future for our born generations.

At this juncture, it must be clear to the blind and audible to the deaf, that we do not intend to attack Ogunyemi’s Personality, neither do we pose to have an profound truth that can alter events that govern the lives of Ilaje people, however, it is imperative to state that I am a man of peace, appalled by the denigrating poverty of my people who live on a richly endowed land, distressed by their political marginalization and economic strangulation, angered by the devastation of their land, their ultimate heritage, anxious to preserve our rights to decent living and enjoy the dividends of our liquid gold.

In line with the ecological and sociological conditions of the Ilaje people, that generate abject poverty, misery and backwardness in Ilajeland , coupled with the present criminalistics tact of Ogunyemi to unjustly deny us our #40, 000 bursary, which to be frank and sincere the previous Osopadec Boss confessed to be #100,000 when arraigned before the EFCC. We appeal to the Governor of Ondo State, Obas in Ilajeland and other concerned bodies to reach out to Ogunyemi to pay our bursary on or before? For we will not accept such injustice and broad day robbing, which are evidence of Man inhumanity to man, neither shall we tolerate the underdevelopment in Ilajeland or the Electricity blackout. Our appeal also goes to The Economic Financial Crime Commission to arraign Ogunyemi for investigation on 2013|14 Osopadec Bursary for there are no evidence under the prevailing circumstances that he will be innocent of Financial crime.
