Cults! An outline analysis

Cults are everywhere. Some are mainstream and widely accepted. Others are isolationist and hide from examination at great expense. They are growing and flourishing. Some cause great suffering while others appear very helpful and beneficial. Which ever group it is, the ultimate end is their destruction when the Lord returns to claim His own.

1. What is a cult?

1.1. Generally, it is a group that is unorthodox, esoteric, and has a devotion to a person, object, or a set of new ideas.

1.1.1. New Teaching - has a new theology and doctrine.

1.1.2. Only True Teaching - often considers traditional religious systems to be apostate and it alone possesses the complete truth.

1.1.3. Strong Leadership - often an individual or small but powerful leadership group holds control of the group’s teachings and practices.

1.1.4. Asset Acquirement - often requires tithing and/or property transfer to the religious system.

1.1.5. Isolationist - to facilitate control over the members physically, intellectually, financially, and emotionally.

1.1.6. Controlling - exercises control over the members. Sometimes this is through fear, threatening loss of salvation if you leave the group. Sometimes through indoctrination.

1.1.7. Indoctrination - possesses methods to reinforce the cult's beliefs and standards where opposing views are ridiculed and often misrepresented.

1.1.8. Apocalyptic - to give the members a future focus and philosophical purpose in avoiding the apocalypse or being delivered through it.

1.1.9. Experience - various practices including meditation, repetition of words and/or phrases, and 'spiritual' enlightenment with God are used as confirmation of their truth.

1.1.9.1. Deprivation - sleep and food deprivation which weakens the will of the subject.
1.1.9.2. This is uncommon, though practiced by more severe cults.

1.1.10. Persecution - predictions of being persecuted, often combined with claiming any opposing views demonstrated against them as a form of persecution.

If you realise that your church practises one or a combination of the above points and you feel it does not justify it to be a cult please give us your reasons. smiley

It's foolishness that's worrying him! cheesy

He just pick up his device and start typing nonsense, forgetting that there is no way he can judge other religionists without condemning his own Kumuyi Church! cheesy

Christianity is about terms, conditions, principles, agreement and condemnation.

Jesus' teachings is the bases of all the terms, conditions and principles. If you choose to agree after listening to what his true followers present to you, you automatically become a member of the Christian family. You'll be invited and welcomed always in their gatherings where there is interchange of encouragement and support for all adherents of the terms. If you err in any of the terms, you'll be assisted to regain strength after a brief reproof. But if you decide to turn your back on the terms upon which you formerly agreed, you'll be shunned, and Christians will stop talking to you, they'll not even greet you.

That's what the book says!

But foolish OLAADEGBU wants to point accusing fingers at some groups claiming Christians while what they're practicing is outlined in the book itself. That's what makes him the most foolish of all religionists!

Kumuyi Church (Deeper Life) members already finds it hard to mingle with other people, even when such persons never agreed with the terms of their Church. Please how do you think they'll treat someone who abandons their Church only to start worshiping with another Church, most especially where women are allowed to put on wave on, jewelries, trousers and makeups? cheesy

Well Jesus and his followers NEVER accused any one or group of persons of being a CULT group!

Ironically it's the FALSE religionists who often accuse Christ and his followers of being Cultists, due to their unity, virtue and orderliness! Matthew 10:25, 12:24

Whether you agree or not, know that there are higher form of life known as SPIRITS. God is also a SPIRIT and spirits are INVISIBLE.

So you can't see them unless they decide to make themselves visible to you.

God said he has sent his only begotten spirit son to appear on planet earth as his representative { Matthew 17:5} and the son also said humans will never see him again {John 14:19,16:8} Therefore anyone telling you they see God or his son have been deceived by deceptive spirit beings! 2Corinthians 11:14

But as for the evidence of his existence, God gave a sign that's indisputable. You will certainly SEE a group of people from different races under the heavens coming together in God's name to form one big and happy family of peace loving worshippers, during a time when all human's initiatives to unite people from all nations and FAILED.
YES! God's representatives will gathered people from different races under the sun, settle all the strife causing hatred and prejudice amongst them and make them vow never to PRODUCE, BUY, SELL or USE any harmful weapons again! Isaiah 2:1-4

When you SEE this happening, know that you've gotten the proof of the presence of a mighty spirit being called THE PRINCE OF PEACE! Isaiah 9:6-7 smiley

ATHEISM belongs only to those who don't want to be controlled, they'll damn all logics just to be ABSOLUTELY FREE, whereas they themselves will never stop trying to control others!

God's word is vindicated when it says "God's invisible qualities continues to trail all his creations" So you can't say there shouldn't be something like "MIND CONTROLLING" in the human society when we need to put things in order, yes we can be free relatively but certainly not absolutely free! Romans 1:20, 2:15 compared to Job 5:13

That's what Adam wanted to avoid but ever since then it has been INEVITABLE there must be a central unit of control in the midst of intelligent creatures! wink

Information Control
Deliberately withhold and distort information
Forbid you from speaking with ex-members and critics
Discourage access to non-cult sources of information
Divide information into Insider vs. Outsider doctrine
Generate and use propaganda extensively
Use information gained in confession sessions against you
Gaslight to make you doubt your own memory
Require you to report thoughts, feelings, & activities to superiors
Encourage you to spy and report on others’ “misconduct”

Thought Control
Instill Black vs. White, Us vs. Them, & Good vs. Evil thinking
Change your identity, possibly even your name
Use loaded language and cliches to stop complex thought
Induce hypnotic or trance states to indoctrinate
Teach thought-stopping techniques to prevent critical thoughts
Allow only positive thoughts
Use excessive meditation, singing, prayer, & chanting to block thoughts
Reject rational analysis, critical thinking, & doubt

Emotional Control
Instill irrational fears (phobias) of questioning or leaving the group
Label some emotions as evil, worldly, sinful, or wrong
Teach emotion-stopping techniques to prevent anger, homesickness

Cults experts says those who belong to a cult group are not even aware that they belong to a cult. They would never accept it when you inform that they are in cult. The reason is that they have had their sense of judgement impaired by their continuous involvement in the group. They can see others as belonging to a cult but never themselves.
