In what look like a display of military might and a place that looks like a barrack post, the University of Port Harcourt in choba Port Harcourt has been turn into a barrack post due to the presence of large military personnel allege deployed by the vice chancellor of the school due to planned protest march being organized by the students of the school.

It will be recall that early last year, April 11, 2016 to be precise , the student of the institution went on protect which later went wild and cost the life of a final year student protested over the new policy of the vice chancellor which state that ‘NO SCHOOL FEES, No EXAMINATION. The student sees the policy as anti-education and went wild. This lead to the earlier sacking of the vice chancellor. But to many who were still surprise today, he was re-instated after he visited the federal capital territory.

It will be recall also that faculty president of the various faculties in the institution were expelled from the university due to an alleged letter written by them to the vice chancellor on the need to adopted student policies for the academic well being of the institution, but the vice chancellor went wild and expelled all.

Since this week, armed personnel have been patrolling the academic campus and it was hell this morning when some gates leading to the institution campus at Choba was locked and people were made to pass through security checks to et to their various destinations on campus.

The relevant authorities should look into the matter now and find solution, not when a scene is created that they will start talking. The best time to act now and save uniport is now.
