Anime title: Cat's eye.

What is it about: Cop chases art thieves, and fails to get them....every time..in 1980's Japan.

Brief synopsis:

Detective Toshi has a problem. A group of art thieves have been stealing artwork all over the town,and nothing....advanced security systems, police guards covering every exit seems to work.

And the thieves are so brazen that they actually give advance notice about their crimes to the public and the police.

And the thieves appear to be spandex wearing.....women.

Detective Toshi can't catch a break at all.

And every now and then he goes to drown his sorrows...in coffee .....at the nearest coffee bar called Cat's eye, run by three lovely sisters..Rui, Hitomi and Ai (Hitomi is his girlfriend), and he tells them all about his efforts to catch the crooks, and what they will be doing next to catch the crooks....who happen to be called Cat's Eye....

(Wonder why he hasn't seen the coincidences yet?)

And in case you haven't noticed, Detective Toshi does not know that his girlfriend and her sisters....happen to be the very people he is after. And the reason for the robberies...is to assemble clues hidden in the artwork...to find a missing person who vanished mysteriously years ago...

What is there to like about the anime...

Cool art thieves breaking into museums with cool gadgets, and making cool getaways all the time, leaving the Police looking lost...all the time.
Also,lots of 80's music....and 80's hair, clothes, and ladies.

The animation is a bit wonky (being an 80's anime after all!), but the story lines are fun, with a mystery within the mystery, plenty of drama...and of course comedy.
