CCTV: Suspected Police Stray Bullet Kills Man In Port Harcourt by Nobody: 9:26am On Feb 15, 2017
A Painter, Nse Akpan has been killed by a stray bullet suspected to be from a police officer in Port Harcourt.
The incident, according to eye witnesses happened in front of First Rivers Hospital by first bank bus stop, Aba road.
At about 3pm on Tuesday, January 31, an unidentified police officer in one of other Police vehicles escorting a bullion van released a bullet which hit Akpan, who was walking on the other side of the road, they said.
The Police Van did not stop despite the incident, the eyewitnesses added.
They also said they later learned that the victim died shortly after he was rushed into First
Rivers Hospital.
Meanwhile, some Staff of First Rivers Hospital have said they made frantic effort to save the victim’s life.
The hospital staff said the victim lost a lot of blood which made it difficult for their Surgeon to pull out the bullet stuck in his liver.
The bullet totally damaged his liver leading to his death, they said.
They also said they managed to extract the victim’s personal information from him and contacted his family when they observed his health was sharply deteriorating.
The staff claimed that the hospital management had formerly reported the incident to the Police.
The police has reportedly remained mute on the issue despite official complaints by the victim’s family
A CCTV captured the moment the victim was gunned down by the bullet.
