If you are feeling frustrated that your eCommerce site is not making sales, you are not alone; most business owners struggle with how to convert their online leads to real time sales. Having a website with eye catching images and beautiful font isn’t enough to keep customers glued to your website. Like Steve Jobs said, “Design isn’t how something looks. It’s how it works”. This means that your website may be well laid out but still not make conversions. Here are some reasons you may be losing sales to your competitors.

Unfriendly to mobile devices
According to statistics, the number of mobile users on the internet has skyrocketed from 400 million in 2012 to 2000 million users in 2015. The amazing thing is it is even projected to go higher in later years! Your potential customer is always on the move and may not have the luxury to connect to the web using a desktop. A website that is unfriendly to mobile users has already lost a large percentage of potential sales. A good eCommerce site must be friendly across all devices including mobile, it must be optimized to give the best user experience. Have a look at some of our well designed eCommerce sites optimized to suit all devices.

No alternative Social Login and checkout option
Having only a compulsory login may be restricting your customers as some may not have luxury of time to fill the required fields. Your potential customer may also be getting frustrated if there is no alternative checkout option. Often times, these first time buyers without any login details may be tempted to go to your competitor who gives them an alternative to either make purchase as a guest or not. Your eCommerce site should be designed in such a way that first time buyers can make purchase as guest buyers if they want and return customers can quickly buy what they want in case they lose their passwords.

Non-maximization of pops ups
Gone are the days when pop ups are easily ignored. Having pop ups with coupons that only requires emails may offer a fair deal to both seller and buyer. For the seller, an email list may be building up for newsletters while for the buyer; it may be a discount or free gift. A potential customer may get overwhelmed when pop ups are not effectively maximized; they should not come up after a customer has filled the required field or chosen to ignore it. Pop ups can also be used to as a call to action to make customers download an app, eBook etc. Online chat pop-ups can also be used to take questions that customers may have before final purchase is made.
