Some members of the National Youth service Corps (NYSC) 2016 Batch B Stream 2 are complaining rejection by both private and public agencies where they were posted to for their Primary assignment.

Most of the affected corps members happens to be those posted in major cities across the various states of the Federation. The corps members who just completed their 21 days orientation exercises have been left to seek new places of primary assignment as many establishments complain lack of funds to pay monthly stipends.

Ojodomo Ogu, a graduate of the Kogi State University, said that the agency where he was posted, flatly turned him down.

According to him, the agency based its decision on the lack of provision for corps members’ stipends in its 2017 budget. He further stressed the need for the scrapping of the NYSC scheme since government institutions could no longer accommodate corps members.

Asides being posted to places of primary assignments where their services are not needed some have been posted to establishments without able hands leading to work over load for the corps members.

One of the affected corps member who spoke directly with KikioTolu said she was posted to a primary school constructed by plywood and required to take 8 lesson periods per day without accommodation or monthly stipends.

This is coming after the posting of the 2016 Batch B Stream 2 Corps members was delayed for weeks by the Federal Government due to funding issues.
