Please this has been bothering me a lot, and I want to know the reason, why medical practitioners used snake as their logo. Both private and government hospital used this same logo. And no one has been able to explain it to me yet. So I choose to bring it here.

The reason was that; the staff of Asklepius was represented by the snake enrolled to the staff, he is a great magician and did great healings in the Old days so his staff represent medicine... The snake sign you see is Asklepius staff.
In case you are interested, Asklepius has two daughters; Hygea and Panacea, Panacea take over after her father's death and she represented the symbol of Pharmacy and that's why when you see Pharmacy symbol, d snake rolled over d staff and it's head is above the staff indicating the father passed the healing on to her....
Asklepius was killed by the Greek gods, Zeus when he brought to life a dead human bcoz its against the law of nature... His staff can resuscitate a dead human

The real name is Ascelpius staff or rod.
It has multiple meanings
Asclepius was a real figure in greece long time ago. He had an infirmary and was very famous in his time. Multitude of snakes use to move around freely at the infirmary. That was how the association of snakes and medicine started
Snake poison is known to kill and treat some diseases. Very similarly to how our drugs are infact poisons which can treat some diseases but infact kill in some instances. Pharma actually means poison.
