Protest By Rice-sellers In Sango-otta by Dontripsy(m): 11:05am On Feb 22, 2017 |
The entire Sango-Ota axis in Ado Ota local Government Area of Ogun is now engulfed in protest. Vehicular and human traffic along Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway in that axis has been paralyzed, as rioting youths and rice sellers in Sango-Ota market are said to have blocked both sides of the road at Ota, just before the bridge. Unconfirmed reports say that these youths and traders are said to bé protesting over what they called ‘invasion’ of the market by men of the Nigeria Customs Service. They claimed that the Customs men went to some stalls early Wednesday morning, forced them opened and evacuated bags of rice, and took them away in their vehicles. Efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on the crisis proved abortive as he did not pick the calls made to his telephone line. Motorists and commuters were stranded, as some of them made frantic efforts to seek alternative routes. Some were seen trekking. source: http://punchng.com/breaking-protest-sango-ota/ cc: lalasticlala |
