PTAD in full, is Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate. It is an agency established by the Federal government of Nigeria to “address the numerous pensioners’ complaints that bother on issues such as non-payment of monthly pension, short payment of pension and gratuity, removal of name on pension payment voucher, non-payment of harmonized pension arrears, irregular payment of federal pensions and non receipt of pension after retirement, etc”. They are so very people-friendly at PTAD, they ignore phone calls and emails, and generally do as they please. It is this attitude that made Nigeria loose Songhai Farms to La République du Bénin. A Catholic Dominican priest, Father Godfrey Nzamujo, had returned to Nigeria, from the US to set up Songhai Farms. He applied for land, and waited 3 months without response. He then headed for Bénin, where he was given land within 3 weeks, or was it 3 days. At least one state governor, has sent youths there for agric training. Imagine leaving the largest economy in Africa, for training in the tiny nation, of Bénin. Are retiree septuagenarians and octogenarians, expected to camp at the offices of PTAD whenever complaints arise? Who said, change should begins with me? I THINK “CHANGE” SHOULD BEGIN HERE, SPEEDILY. Been to their office in Abuja. They attended to the pensioner politely and promptly as well as apologized to him. They assured him his unpaid 2 months will be paid and didn't hear he was not paid. There was no crowd at their office. Many govt offices and agencies still find it hard to pick calls or reply emails. It's very bad and unprofessional. They should simply delete the numbers and emails from their contact if they won't answer |

PTAD has an office in Abuja, but not in Jos or Minna. If the fellows in these 2 locations cannot make phone contact, the option left is to travel to Abuja. They may not be capable of travelling alone. That is, they need to be accompanied by an escort. This has its cost implications, amongst others. |
