The Benin Electricity Distribution Company has told residents of Sapele in Delta State that their demand for 18-hour daily power supply cannot be met at the moment.

The Executive Director, Commercial, BEDC, Mr. Abu Ejoor, explained to the residents that even “the power generated to the national grid is not sufficient to service everyone in the country at the moment.”

According to a statement on Tuesday, Ejoor spoke during a meeting between the BEDC and residents of Sapele to fashion out modalities for improved power supply in the area.

“The current 3000-35000MW being generated in the country from which the BEDC’s allocation is just nine per cent is not even enough to service a state let alone four states under its control,” Ejoor said.
