El-kanemi Warriors are now a genuine title contender for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as Ladan Bosso's lead side shut the gap on Plateau United after their vehement 3-1 win over Sunshine Stars.

El-kanemi hit their guests, Sunshine Stars 3-1 at the Maiduguri Township Stadium on Wednesday evening. Samuel Mathias put the home side ahead in the 25th minute of the game before the guests levelled back courtesy of Bala Yahuza goal.

Bello Koformata restored the home side lead in the 65th minute from the spot and Mathias compensated for the penalty he missed miss in the first half of the game to finish his game with a brace.
