Even with the slightly sinister AMG touches, the E63 still looks upscale and wouldn’t be out of place at a formal event. Leave the transmission in comfort mode and the shifts are as smooth as you’d expect in a traditional Benz. Twisting the transmission dial to S+ provides much more aggressive programming that begs for more spirited driving. I didn’t have a chance to do much spirited driving during my time with the E63, but I was impressed by how well the car handled more menial tasks like transporting four people to dinner.

With swooping lines and traditional British styling, the XK is the quintessential grand touring car in the Jaguar range. Power comes from a 5.0-liter 385-hp V-8 mated to a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters and rear-wheel drive. Steering is nicely weighted and handling is delightfully balanced. The XK is a comfortable car, but it also feels plenty sporty on a winding road. Here’s the bad news: the 2015 model is the last year for these four-wheeled felines. Get one while you still can.

This Jaguar’s standard excellence extends beneath that long, elegant hood, too. But even cars that get it right on the first go have some room for improvement. So for 2010, the former base engine—a 300-hp, 4.2-liter V-8—was replaced by a direct-injection, 5.0-liter eight with variable valve timing and a variable-geometry intake manifold, generating a stonking 385 hp at 6500 rpm and 380 lb-ft at 3500. In addition to shuffling the XK about effortlessly, turning in a 5.0-second 0-to-60 flick, and bellowing through the quarter in 13.5 at 107 mph, the 5.0 sounds marvelously unrestrained, nearly out of place in a car so elegant. We say “nearly” because ensuring other people know you’re better than them is part of the Jaguar allure, no? The engine’s tremendous flexibility is reflected in its passing-acceleration times: 30 to 50 mph in 2.5 seconds, 30 to 70 mph in 3.6. This is a car for people who are going places and are bent on getting there immediately.

Behind that engine is the only transmission available, a six-speed automatic (if you’re hoping for more griping about the rotary shifter, look elsewhere). Paddles on the back of the steering wheel are standard, of course, and each one has a single assigned task: The right upshifts, and the left downshifts. The transmission responds instantaneously, and on downshifts, it rev-matches so aggressively it’ll probably fool a lot of automatic-driving bystanders.

The Jaguar XK is a high-end luxury sports car that drives as well as it looks. The four-seat XK comes as a coupe or convertible with V-8 power. There are two high-performance variants of the XK: the XKR and XKR-S. Both have supercharged V-8s, and the XKR-S' engine puts out 550 horsepower. According to Jaguar, the XKR-S can go from zero to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds. Competitors include the BMW 650i and Mercedes-Benz SL.

New for 2013;
New Touring versions of the coupe and convertible body styles give the XK a lower starting price for 2013. There's also a new Portfolio Package for the XK and XKR that includes chrome mirror caps and a chrome grille, contrast cabin stitching, soft-grain leather, heated and cooled front seats, walnut or aluminum interior trim, a leather headliner, stainless-steel pedals and scuff plates, and leather-trimmed floormats.

The XK's oval grille opening is different from other Jaguar models, and the broader front bumper distinguishes it from the preceding generation, called the XK8.

Interior;

The XK's interior isn't the roomiest in its class, though its front-seat legroom is far better than average and its dimensions are more than workable for adults. The backseat exists only in name; there's no legroom unless the front occupants slide forward, and the seat cushions have oddly shaped contours. It's "2+2" seating, which means Jaguar doesn't expect you to think they're real rear seats. The convertible's soft-top is thick enough that interior noise levels aren't much different from the coupe's.

There's not much difference between the Continental GT and this Speed version. They are both incredibly powerful and luxuriously appointed with pedigrees enough to give legions of nouveau riche the airs of respectability they so covet. In truth, the GT Speed is a magnificent beast. I can’t say for sure that it feels substantially faster than the regular GT, but I can say that you will never, ever require more horsepower or torque (553 pound-feet) than the big turbocharged W12 offers. After you buy a GT Speed, if you still have an unquenched yearning for more power, it’s time to turn in your driver’s licence — for you are surely to end up in a dungeon. You have been warned.‎

The Speed edition of the sleek Continental GT Coupe uses the same W-12 engine as the Coupe has used since its introduction, but lighter-weight engine components and a new engine-management system have lifted its horsepower. Power output is now 600 hp with 553 pound-feet of torque, some 15 and 9 percent more than the base GT, which gets better fuel efficiency but no more power for 2008.   

Outfitted with the six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive from the Continental GT, the Speed version is said to accelerate to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds on its way to a 202-mph top speed.   Styling updates on the new Speed include a wider air intake and a more upright radiator grille, as well as a dark-tinted grille and bigger tailpipes. The suspension has been retuned to accommodate 20-inch wheels; carbon-ceramic brakes are available optionally.‎
