Nigeria is not affected with the travel ban to US with the executive order of President Trump, however, the immigration officer at the port of entry will ask anyone with Visitors visa questions to determine if he or she can come in or not. It is not discrimination.

Note, the Visa you have from Lagos and Abuja office of US Embassy or Consulate means nothing until it is validated by the immigration officer on American soil.

1. Do not get your visa and Nigeria passport thru third party or through fake source. If u do, it may not pass thru the system.

2. Make sure your passport does not have visa of those banned countries on your Nigerian Passport either as visitor or business that will create a red flag for you to be seen as a friend of the enemies.

3. Look directly at the immigration officer in the eyes when you talk, note, looking away during interrogation is a sign u are hidding something. USA is an eye contact believable society unlike our culture.

4. Be truthful in your statement because the immigration officer might have dealt with the same lies you are trying to spin on him thousands of times, they are trained to detect liars or smooth talker.

5. Declare exactly what you have on you, if it is two thousand dollars, don't give a wrong figure, failure to do this, can create problems u can easily avoid.

Tell the truth. For example if u have been to any of those countries on US banned list in the past and the Visa of such nation is on your passport. Tell the truth don't spin anything, be truthful and tell the immigration what u went to those countries for if you can, have document printed of such visit and store in your folder to support you claim.

6. Have the phone number and address of the family member or hotel you will stay in America and possibly print and store in a folder past email communication with your contact incase no one picks up your calls from the immigration office incase u need to.

7. Do not play the role of a good Samaritan, never get involved in any interrogation of others , mind your own business is the keyword.

8. Never help anyone to hold any object not even babies, call the attention of U.S. official to anyone who needs help and walk away from any crowd gathering place.

9. Do not sign any document until U see an immigration Lawyer, if u can contact one before leaving Nigeria, the better for you. His number should be in your folder since u are allowed at least one phone call, the Oracle says your lawyer is your first and preferred calls.

10. Don't forget to pray before you travel and don't discuss politics with anyone on the plane, and immigration center. u may be talking to an agent of the law. Again mind your business leave, Trump and Obama politics to Americans. Remember what your mother told u about "Shobolation" this is time to make use of it.

11. Please make sure the person inviting u to America has no criminal record, you can research on your invitee online on some special sites. The system can trace the criminal history of anyone in America, you may be a suspect even from the Airport if the invitee is a drug dealer under watch.

12. Look at your personal hygiene. Clean shave, nice body smell and avoid stories can get u cleared faster than u think be precise in your comments if you are asked of your name don't ask the immigration officer to look it in the Passport, nobody is interested in your nick names.

US is a beautiful country to visit or live especially to those who mind their business and are lawful. It is still a place for immigrants and always be.

Have a wonderful trip and on a lighter mood, stay away from CNN before the trip, the TV station is likely to create fear in you, than the trip ahead.

Best of luck.

After all these, US will still not give you visa. Out of every 300 Nigerians that applied for US visa, 7 might be lucky to have the visa. They are doing legalized scam in US embassy.

Please sir , I need your advice , I and my wife got a 2yrs tourist visa for honey moon. And our original plan was to go to Chicago which is what we told the embassy . But my wife is insisting we go to NY . So my question is if there would be an issue for us at the NY port of entry . Thank you as I await your response
