Delta State NUT: The Strike Continues by Teacher1776(m): 11:16am On Mar 21, 2017
Contrary to speculations made in the state owned media ordering teachers in public primary and secondary schools in Delta State to return to work, the leadership of the State NUT released a statement dated on the 16th of March emphasizing that the strike continues. In a statement jointly signed by Comrade Jemiriyigbe J.O, (State Chairman), comrade Louis Okogba (State publicity secretary, NUT) and Comrade Joe Iyalekue (State Secretary, NUT,) calls on "the generality of teachers in the state to synergize and reinforce the corporate existence of an indivisible NUT as the STRIKE ACTION CONTINUES. "
It should be recalled that the state NUT declared an indefinite strike two weeks ago. Following irregular payments of primary school teachers salaries, partial payment of salaries and the government's refusal to pay promotion arrears of teachers amongst others..

Last weekend, the state government led by Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa ordered teachers to return to classes. The Executives of the NUT is going round schools, shutting them down until their demands are met or when the government shows a tangible commitment at meeting them.
