According to John .C. Maxwell:

“Everything rises and falls on leadership”

–John .C. Maxwell

Too many people neglect this subject because they think it is only concerned with those in authority; people occupying political or religious offices.

While this thought may have some elements of truth in it, it is however absolutely vital to note that leadership goes beyond that even down to how you’re able to manage your day to day activities, your relationship with people and your response to situations around you.

This article just gives a brief exposition on what leadership entails as it applies to our lives and endeavors. I’m certain you will learn a lesson from this.

Some points to consider in displaying effective leadership are:

1.Doing the right thing: Effective leaders don’t only do things right, they do the right things. An understanding of this statement is what determines your productivity level otherwise you’ll be beating the air or ‘pouring water into a basket’.

2. Having the right mindset: it is not just enough to know and do the right things; you have to actually believe in what you’re doing. The mind is a powerful tool, which when channeled properly would produce amazing results.

3. Acting accordingly: this is the most important part, because having a vast measure of knowledge, wealth of experience and diversity of skills without action is utterly useless.

Some people have brilliant ideas but are afraid to act (this is a major impediment to achieving anything useful in life)

I’ve personally realized from study and experience that:

“If you keep waiting for things to be perfect before you act, you’ll never achieve anything”.

-Igwe Kelechi

So, go out there and try and fail and when you do, don’t give up try again until you get it, you’ll be happy you did.

A great man once said:

“When you fall, don’t be too quick to stand, kneel first, then you can stand”

-Bon Osita

This means that there is always a lesson to learn from each failure, at least you’ll take note of what made you fall and stay as far away from it as possible.

Two major keys or tools for effective leadership are:

1. Personal development: Developing the leader in you is all about developing yourself and what is personal development?
It is consciously taking a decision to become a better person daily and acting on it.

It also entails a conscious process of activities you engage in that leads to personal change, advancement, growth, progress and improvement.

The latter statement above is very important because

“God will not give to you by MIRACLE what He has designed for you to get by MATURITY and PRINCIPLE”

-Simeon Afolabi (RCCG)

“You can never climb beyond the limits of your character”.

-John .C. Maxwell

Action point: Decide that you’re going to be a better version of yourself and make conscious effort towards that.

2. Passion: if people can’t mention a word or a problem/need and remember you or your service(i.e. your expertise or ability to solve it), then you’re passionate about nothing. Specialize on your niche and develop your skills until you’re the best in that field.

Best of luck!!!
