i think Idia is a very good edo name for a girl child. it does not only sounds nice but it is easy to pronounce, and lord willing if i have a daughter that is what i am going to name her. coz i see no reason why we should be naming our daughters after european queens like Elizabeth, Victoria, Isabella etc while we neglect our own queens.

Idia was a warrior queen who was not only revered for strength but also known for her enchanting beauty. so i dont see why the edo people and nigerians in general are not naming their daughters her.

It all depends on what you want the child to be.

If you want him to be a corrupt politician, name him Nosakhare Igbinedion grin
Corrosive politician? Oshiomole grin
A tout? Name him Bob Izua grin
The wife of a corrupt politician? Name her Eki grin
A celebrated footballer? Osaze grin
A disgraced footballer? Yakubu, Aiyegbeni grin
A sorry football coach? Amodu Shauibu grin
Ugly Petroleum minister? Obaseki grin
Gramarian? Obahiagbon grin
A VC? Agbonlahon grin
Armed robber? Anenih grin
Transporter? Edegbe, Uyi, Edosa, Osaretin, Efosa grin
Just joking

Frankly speaking now, some Edo names may sound ridiculous to non-Edo people, but there are some really nice Edo names that sound really sexy to both Edo and non-Edo people alike. Below are some for you to choose from,

Onose(f),
Omegie(f),
Ivie(f),
Itseme(m/f),
Oshioke(m),
Imokhai (m),
Obozuwa(m),
Isimeme(f),
Osaze(f),
Oshomah(m),
Osilama(m),
Adesuwa(f)
Imafidon(m)
Uyi(m)
etc.

I'm proudly EDO! cool

meaning prayer answered.

OP i think you and your fiancé has made the best decision of giving your child an Edo name as the first name, then any other as the middle name.
I don't even fancy the my first name being english and i have promised to give my kids Edo names all through if possible.
