Ronaldo is a forward who plays for spanish side Real Madrid and Portugal National team, Messi is an argentinian who plays for spanish side Fc Barcelona and both players have won 7 UEFA champions league trophies between them. Ronaldo is an all round finisher with aplomb. Messi is a defenses nightmare with deadly accuracy and close controlled dribbling.

These icons have dominated the Ballon Dor for ten years but 2017 has seen new candidates step up to the plate.
