It is glaring that the preparation for the long awaited 2017 UTME is in the air and students are up and doing getting ready to blast the exam. ................................................................ May in quickly cheap in this that my blog( www.dailyguide.com.ng ) is now officially back with constant motivation, health,relationship,stories and tech updates. ............................................................... As we all know that the UTME use of english carries more marks than the other subjects,it is therefore important that it is taking very seriously. Without taking time, below is the break down of the exam layout. The utme use of english test is designed to facilitate the selection of candidates who have the basic requirement in english for tertiary institution. In this paper the candidates ability to read, comprehend, interpret and summarize material in various registers and styles and their knowledge of the structure vocabulary, idioms, and sound patterns of english are tested. The Structure Of The UTME English Language Paper are 1. Comprehension (three passages) 2. Cloze test (one passage) 3. Sentence Interpretation 4. Antonyms 5. Synonyms 6. Fill in the gap 7. Oral forms (vowels,consonants, stresses,rhymes and intonation. The paper which is a multiple-choice examination, comprises two sections. Section A : consists of comprehension (three passages of varying lengths not exceeding 400words) and a cloze passage which normally contain fewer words than any of the comprehension passages. The passages usually reflect text types as narration, description, argumentation, exposition, dialogue etc and covers various subject areas like religion, science , engineering, journalism,politics, education etc. This test the student ability to summarise and synthesize information through critical evaluation.
