Big Brother Nigeria is a reality Tv show based on the Big Brother Tv series in which twelve to fourteen contestants live in an isolated place and compete for a grand prize by avoiding being evicted by the viewers, this is a collaboration between the Nigerian and South African production team. This show is geared towards exploring talents and bringing out the best in each contestant , it also serves as an avenue for the entertainment world and the country to know about these characters and help them succeed in their careers after the big brother show.

The first of its kind started on March 5,2006 and ended on June 4,2006 with twelve contestants on the arrival day and two more contestants introduced into the house on the 23rd day. This first season ended with Mr Katung Aduwak winning the cash prize of $100,000.
The second season which is ongoing started on 22nd January 2017 and is slated to end after 78days,this season has twelve contestants and two fake housemates introduced into the game just to heat up the house. The winner will be going home with the sum of N25m and an SUV.

The first season produced the likes of Ebuka Obi-Uchendu who has grown in the entertainment industry as a presenter, he hold so many awards which include Outstanding male presenter of the year 2013,2014,2015 by the Nigerian Broadcasters, he is the host of men's corner (Nigeria's first all male tv show) and the ongoing Big Brother Naija.
Katung Aduwak, who was the winner of the season has been into so many filming and production projects which include producing and directing the movies Unwanted Guest and Heaven's hell, he has also directed a number of musical videos for chocolate city and styl plus, he also starred in Ebonylife Tv's Desperate housewives.
Gideon Okeke of Tinsel also gained popularity under this platform, he has also acted a number of movies which include 93 days, When love happens and A place in the stars, he has been awarded Best actor in drama in AMVCA awards 2016, he is the CEO of Apple Box (a media oitfit).
This is to mention a few who has been on the limelight after BBN 2006 show.

Let's deviate a little, many organizations and companies spring forth as sponsors when the program is about entertainment but we find it hard to celebrate academic excellence, very few organizations gear towards upholding excellence and morals in our country today. Money and firm is now the inn thing with so many even pursuing it through the wrong way. Employment opportunities should be made available to graduating students, Awarding scholarships will help reduce the number of people on the streets looking for how to survive, giving worthy awards to the best graduating students will engineer others to work hard. Creativity should be encouraged earnestly. ,psychological and financial help given to these creative minds to help them wax stronger and do better in what they engage themselves into. Sports should be boosted and sponsored more in Nigeria, imagine a news of table tennis junior players getting ready to go for a competition only to be stopped by lack of financial sponsorship. Most first class students today find it hard to get a job because companies are looking for cheap labour, they prefer to give peanuts to a WAEC certificate holder to do the job than employing professionals in the field.

We can do better than we are doing now, let's redirect our priority and achieve a better country. No country survives only on entertainment.
