Atrial fibrillation (also called AFib or AF) is an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) that can lead to blood clots, stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications. At least over 10 million people live with AFib.

Although there are many symptoms of the ailment, one of the major effects of A-Fib disorder is an irregular and rapid beating of the upper chambers of the heart.

In as much as A-Fib disorder is not life-threatening, if untreated, A-fib can lead to dangerous health conditions and can weaken the heart muscle over time, which triples the risk of heart failure. The risk of dementia doubles also.
People with A-fib are around five times more likely to have a stroke than people without the condition, and strokes can lead to permanent disability or death.

Impact of Alcohol to A-Fib
There are many negative effects of alcohol on the heart associated with heavy drinking:
High blood pressure
Heart failure
Weight gain, leading to high blood pressure
Enlarged heart

Alcohol is a known trigger for a specific form of A-fib known as holiday heart syndrome (HHS).HHS is the sudden appearance of A-fib in individuals who are otherwise healthy, but who recently took part in everyday drinking.
Although, there is no scientific evidence that caffeine causes heart arrhythmias in those with a healthy heart.
Nor is there any evidence that drinking caffeinated beverages long-term will cause an arrhythmia to develop.
However, some people could be unaware that they have an arrhythmia or that they are prone to developing one based on their genetics, which is why caffeine should always be consumed in moderation.

Causes and How to avoid A-Fib
