Tragedy struck a few minutes ago as a high tension cable dropped and electrocuted no fewer than 10 football fans who were watching Man United Vs Anderlecht Europa league match in a viewing centre along Akpandem Street, Atimbo, Calabar, Cross River State. No fewer than 30 others sustained various injuries from the tragedy. The corpses have been taken to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Mary Slessor Road, where some of the injured are also receiving treatment The incident occurred as a result of high voltage electric power that was restored in the area. This led to a spark and eventual cut in the cable which dropped on the football viewing house. |
