Suspected cultists have killed no fewer than four persons in River State on Sunday following fresh cult clashes that erupted in some communities of the state.

It was learnt that one Nna Assor was killed and beheaded in Omudioga community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

This was coming after five people were killed in the same community on Wednesday last week following a cult war in the area.

As the community was on the verge of resettling, some cultist believed to be members of the dreaded Icelander cult gang invaded the community on Sunday, killed and beheaded Assor in reprisal.

Confirming the development, the Omudioga Youth President, Chinyere Amadi, stated that Assor, who was suspected to be a member of Deygbam cult group was murdered and beheaded by suspected members of the rival Iceland cultists in the area.

Amadi disclosed that the residents of the community were now living in fears, wondering how the hoodlums carried out the act even when there was security presence in the community.

In a related development, two people have been killed in cult violence in Omademe Community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state, during clashes between Icelanders and rival Deygbam cult groups in the area.

A community source, who simply identified himself as Chuks, alleged that trouble started when members of the two cult groups engaged in an argument over which group was leading in the clashes in neighbouring Omudioga community in Emohua LGA.

Mr. Azubuike Wanjoku, member representing Ikwerre constituency at the Rivers State House of Assembly, condemned the resurgence of cult violence in the area.

Wanjoku called on security operatives to renew efforts to curb the increasing criminal activities in the state in spite of the state government amnesty programme.
