A midlife crisis is a condition that can occur anytime between one’s thirties and sixties. It is considered to be the consequence of knowing you are going to die someday. For some people, this realization triggers crisis, and they start feeling frustrated, anxious, or hopeless, which may affect relationship with family, friends, and partners. Learning ways to overcome this condition can make you live a happy life. Symptoms of Midlife Crisis Often times, we overlook the symptoms of midlife crisis, so it is important to be well- informed on these. Some common signs of this depressing phase include: Fatigue Anxiety, sadness, and emptiness Sleeping disorder such as excessive sleep, problem to sleep, or waking up very early Loss of weight and appetite Losing interest, isolation, social withdrawal from meeting friends, attending parties, etc. Feeling guilty unnecessarily, loss of self-worth, feeling hopeless and helpless Lack of interest in hobbies Excessive use of drugs and alcohol Crying too much or too often Fixation on suicidal attempts, death Body pain and ache that linger even after treatment How to Deal with Midlife Crisis 1. This is not in any way helpful and it doesn’t make you very popular with you doctor. So save yourself from embarrassment by not hanging out with people way younger than you or by imagining that they like you. 3. Don't Worry Obsessively About Work. Don’t be too obsessed with a particular job because it is most probably to end in disappointment. Just be thankful you have a job, but if you don’t have, try to take pleasure in believing that lots of people will lose their jobs in the next few years. If used wisely, Schadenfreude can be a helpful therapeutic tool. 4. Don't Transfer Your Neurosis on to Your Kids. There are reasons why kids have limited talent and that’s because they need you most as a parent. Don’t get overly worked up about their extra home assignments and other little responsibilities you need to carry out for them. It is the standard, and you must play your role in their lives. You just have to accept them as they are. 5. Create New Goals. If the current plan for retirement is getting bored to you, change of plan may help. Decide on where to live during retirement or whether to keep on working with your...........
