Mikel John Obi was expected to provide the flair in Nigeria's midfield against Egypt but years of operating as a holding player at Chelsea seem to have dulled his attacking instincts. He was replaced by the veteran Nwankwo Kanu at the ongoing Nations Cup.

How bad are things for Nigeria right now? They're so bad that the possibility that Jay-Jay Okocha, aged 37 and having played nothing but squash since leaving Hull City, might be brought back into the squad for the World Cup is being given serious consideration by at least certain sections of the Nigerian press.

Roger Milla may have been able to do something similar (aged 38) for Cameroon in 1990, but even he was playing third-division football in RĂ©union. Yet the desire for a central midfield creator is understandable, for that is what Nigeria desperately lack now.

Knowing that 'Jay Jay', is one of the top cheer leaders of the Eagles as a member of a Presidential Task Force mandated to ensure Nigeria's flag flies high at South Africa 2010.

In a recent interview, he told the press that one of the happiest days of his life was the day he hung up his boots for good, He also told the press that, He still enjoys the occasional kick about with friends.

Probably, it would be asking too much of his 37-year-old body to return for the crunch World Cup.

But who says that this crowd pleaser should not again be convinced to come back to star for the Eagles in time for the World Cup.

His boots have been too big for any of the younger pretenders to fill.

Don't you all think we need him NOW!!!?

paacakes you are a very big fool to suggest nonsence like this. who told you that we are lacking good creative midfilders do you want another kanu in eagles now, imagine how lazy okocha would be and how many times he would lose ball. we are not lacking good midfilders we just need good coach to call them, if we play this

mikel

lukman ibrahim

then only egypt midfield is good as this one. why don't you suggest we call yekini and odegbami back
