The Galaxy S8 has a 5.8-inch size which is actually confusing considering the fact that when one would expect it to be bigger, its actually almost the same size with the former flagship, the Galaxy S7. In essence, 5.8-inch = 5.1-inch. Pretty weird and confusing right? Well, the easiest way to know is to look at the different dimensions of both smartphones- Galaxy S8: 148.9 x 68.1 x 8, Galaxy S7: 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9mm. Did you notice anything? Its almost the same size. Well the reason for this (the size hike) is, a slightly bigger aspect ratio of 18.5:9 against the normal 16:9.

And then Samsung wanted the screen-to-body ratio to be so big that it had to omit the physical buttons, which Samsung is actually known for. That’s another weird stuff right there but it looks great and reason for making such a display seems to be more of for its importance and useability than for beauty or aesthetics. You will agree with me that a big screen is always better for watching movies and playing video games among other things. The S8 is a big screen in a compact body. Somehow, it kinda resembles LG G6 but it is smaller than the later.

The last weird stuff am going to talk about (because there is nothing else to talk about) is the position of the fingerprint scanner i.e just beside the camera. Normally, it almost always stays underneath the camera if it should be situated at the rear. But that’s not the weirdest we have seen in a smartphone, Sony always have its fingerprint scanners embedded in the power button which is usually placed by the side of their smartphones. You hardly ever notice, especially because of the power button’s weird location, that it would also double as a fingerprint scanner.
