Recently around the University environment, it has been confirmed that the University administration wants all students to create a blog[b] (compulsorily)[/b] without which they won't be able to update their student webometrics.
Most students are confused as to the reason why this was made compulsory, some see it as undue advantage by the authorities.
These are the reasons for the webometrics :

1) The latest Webometrics ranking released last year (2016) has ranked the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, as the best university in the country and has placed
the same institution among the best 1,500 universities in the world.

2) The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ozumba, is determined to make the UNN the best in Africa and among the top 10 in the world. That will happen
sooner than later

in a way i support his action. note that schools with issues to hide would actually be fearful of exposure. blogging would get the students busy and encourage research on topics to post. increase reasoning capacity and discourage lazy hands vices.

need i also mention that they stand to earn a source of living if they do it right and would not need to carry their papers around after graduation. many a time we complain that entrepreneurship is not being taught. now it is 'encouraged' all join
