Most times you find yourself not knowing how to identify fake events. Your challenges becomes more when you find an attractive event that you wish to attend yet you don’t know if it is real or fake, how to avoid costly mistakes and other hidden dangers attached to it if any. Then you become worried! You are not alone! Most people have fallen victim of these issues while they are searching for self-satisfying event programmes. They blindly register and make payments without attempting the least to find out the event organizers’ details and other information related to them. Some site leave you without information about the event organizers! So where do you get protections or help should any unexpected happens?!

A friend once shared his experience. Here is it.

While browsing a popular event website, he came across a training programme where he had to pay N5000 Naira to attend it! He was happy because that was the kind of training he had planned all his life to attend. He made the payment and received the event ticket via email. On the D-day, he had prepared to go before the appointed time of 10am but suddenly received an sms saying the event date had been changed. He was bordered but gave himself self-assurance that he would still attend the event again the following week as stated in the sms.

The following week on the appointed date, he had got to the venue early enough and then the problem started. At the check-in point he was asked to present his printed ticket for counter-verification with the master guests list with the officer at the check-in point. At a point he was isolated from the rest of the guests having been told to wait for the officials in charge to validate his ticket. He became angry and was almost causing a scene. However, with patience he was finally attended to. He was told he had bought a fake event ticket as his name was not on the master guest list. He almost went mad because the ticket bore the same name as the one advertised on the site. He lost his money to cloned event besides there was no way for him to recover his money. Even at that, there was no way he could report such case or make such person known to other unsuspecting members of the public.

To avoid being caught in the web, make sure you verify the event organizer information such as address, telephone, company profile, past events, profile picture, etc. you must also check to see if the company is registered or not.

fotunately and surprisingly, while searching for possible site where such fraudulent acts could be minimized I stumbled upon this website: www.eventmarks.com.ng. Relatively new, it a site you can reckon with. I think in my opinion you can avoid such issues on this website. Event posting is free. Event organizers are verified. Not only that, even if a verified event organizer acted differently from what they advertised before the event, users can report such organizer. This helps a lot by removing the fraudulent ones while restoring user confidence. You may report the organizer while selecting the relevant information associated with his actions or your grievances. Once an event organizer is reported, user complaint is investigated and actions to prevent further unwholesome practices of such event company or individual is taken. However, caution has to be taken if after investigation the user complaint is baseless or complaints violates event organizers’ Ticket Terms And Venue Rules, no measure will be taken against event organizer. Such user may be suspended where he or she has been noted severally to have given false or misleading information about event organizers. Users must get themselves familiar with event information before purchasing any tickets.

In addition the buying and selling event tickets, you can sell souvenirs as well. You may choose between selling tickets and souvenirs or both. If you have owambe party such as wedding, birthday, carnival, camps etc, this is easy. You don't need a house to house visits to your guests before they can buy your souvenirs(aso-ebi, customized shirts, wristbands faze-caps)You can create your event an add souvenirs of different types that you have. In fact, while selecting, among others, your souvenir, you can provide your custom name on your souvenir! They will ship it to your guests. Its an awesome website!
