Many people find it quite difficult to forgive and also forget. Some people believe one cannot totally forget but can still forgive. I believe you can forgive and forget, it is just left for you to make the conscious decision to forgive and forget for your own self-development.

Deciding not to forgive brings limitation to you as a person, this is because you won’t be able to concentrate on things that will bring progress for you. You will keep reminding yourself of the person’s wrong doing and you won’t move ahead and concentrate on things that will lead to success.

You can learn to forgive and forget through the following principles below.



Let go of the resentment. Allow yourself to heal by talking about it to someone, you can also write down how you feel about the whole situation. This will enable you to let go of how you deeply feel. Try not to bottle up your emotions by saying everything is good while you feel hurt and betrayed within. Talk about it and if you have to cry, do so. This will help you release your emotions and it has a long way to enable you to heal up.
Realize that forgiving helps your health. Do you know that studies have shown that being unforgiving and dwelling on the injustices that were done to you can actually raise your blood pressure, increase your heart rate, make your muscles tense, and lead you to be more stressed out than if you make a conscious effort to forgiving the person?This explains why you should look beyond the hurt you feel and the wrong doing of the person and decide to forgive the person because of your health. When you have such logic at the back of your mind. Trust me, forgiveness comes in.
Focus on the lesson learned from the situation. We all learn new things on a daily basis. These new things help our self-development which makes us a better person. So from the hurt you feel, there is a lesson you will learn from such situation. This lesson can be your key towards succeeding in life. So focus on what you have learned from the situation because it will enable you forgive and also forget.
Accept it if you can’t forget the pain. By now you have done everything possible to forget the hurt that you feel but you can’t let go of the pain and hurt you feel. I advise you accept the reality that you find it difficult to forget the hurt and look for ways to deal with how you feel. So make the decision and get moving in order to make a success.
