- Federal University in Dutsin-ma in Katsina state has been shut down

- The university was shut down over religious tension

- Muslim students accused the former Vice Chancellor, James Ayatse, of favoring Christians in filling academic and non-academic vacancies

Christians and Muslims are allegedly facing each other in what can be described as religious crises in Katsina.

The alleged brewing tension between minority Christians and a larger body of Muslim students have resulted in the closure of the Federal University in Dutsin-ma in Katsinastate by the university’s management according to Sahara Reporters.

The  crises started on Friday when Islamic students at the university mobilized and protested against Christian employees at the university.

Andrew Moses, a security guard at the University, who spoke to Sahara Reporters said that:“We saw strange faces stationed at Academic Department housing the university management staff, including the Vice Chancellor.

When we inquired about their mission, they simply said, ‘We are here for jihad against Christians in the university.’”While reacting to the incident, a lecturer at the university who asks not to be mentioned said that the crises has been a long standing one.

According to him, it started when Muslim students accused the former Vice Chancellor, James Ayatse, of favoring Christians in filling academic and non-academic vacancies.

He noted further that the boiling over of the crises was a result of a court order which recently reinstated Haruna Kaita.

According to Sahara Reporter's source: “Professor Kaita came to the university with a group of Muslims who threatened to deal with any Christians working here,” referring to the Federal Government-owned university.

He said further that Muslim students backing Mr. Kaita mobilized other Muslims groups from Dutsin-ma town to support their mission of sending the Christians away from the federal university.

It was also gathered Samuel Zumve, the interim chairman of the Academic Staff Union of the Universities (ASUU), equally mobilized some Christian students who came together “prepared to defend their Christians fellows in the university.

”Police officers have however been deployed around the university to forestall religious violence in the town and the university.

Meanwhile, chairman of the university Senate, Bichi, has ordered immediate closure of the university until normalcy returns.‎

Not surprised.

A majority of Katsina Muslims are self-styled Jihadists, crude, intolerant supremacist, and the most violent you will find anywhere in Nigeria.

They are hard to reason with because they have been programmed to view life from cruel religious perspectives.

If a professor, someone who should be a thought leader, could stoop so low as to be such a lowlife, extremist teacher, then you can imagine what the uneducated are capable of.

They are incapable of thinking beyond religion.

The same goes for Zaria, parts of Kano and Bauchi.

These are the most intolerant places in the whole of Nigeria.

Is that not the same university established by a Christian president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan?

Anyway, it's very typical of muslims. They will gain 95% but ever ready to cry victim and resort to violence for the 5% you gain.

Religion of peace strikes again. Please tell us which of the Christian workers overthrew your government in Libya and Egypt for this "retaliation"? Or which of the workers bombed your innocent women and children in Afghanistan and Iraq. Apparently you always try to justify your evil by terming it "retaliation".

Religion, Tribalism and corruption are the three major problems of this country. angry
Flush those three out and watch this country turn to Eldorado. Unfortunately the 3 conundrums are what defines us as Nigerians. angry

Religious tensions is likely to tear this world apart. I witnessed this in my Unidays too. The Alfas were dead serious to kill, while the Christians thought it was a joke and laughed through the whole violence. The leaders of Islam need to be held responsible for the behavior of their faithful. They are just too inclined to violence. God help us.

What I can say about some Muslims is that they have shallow brain, people think for them, they can't think on their own.their brain is filled with saw dust no cow shit cos they never think of the repercussion of their action.
What if all Christians decide not to employ Muslims into their organization anymore?
What if other uni's dominated by Christians start doing same?
If we are to say Muslims should go to Muslim school and Christians to their own,
Most Muslims will be out of schools as in they won't see schools to attend cos their northern school won't accommodate all of them.
Why always Muslims?

Is it not a shame that a Religion you probaby did not chose but you were born into by your parent some how supersede moral human reasoning.. what a shame..
An institution of learning that should be a unifying community which brings people from different back ground together so as to appreciate that bigger picture of life... now becomes a joke... what a shame.. this goes to both major religion in Nigeria. What a disgrace. We don't see people as people but we see them through the prism of religion and not talent, nepotism and not competence, tribalism and not effectiveness. NIGERIA what a shame... I use to love my country, I beautiful abode were Kantonic level of reasoning was prevalent, but now with this generation... SHAME... we need giants, youthful giants that believe in Nigeria to come alive and challenge this dangerous trend I plead.. cry cry cry

Sometimes I got amazed with the way guyz reasons in this forum. I knew it is a federal university and every Nigerian has the right to work or studies there without discrimination or whatsoever but I don't think what happened in that university could be tolareted anywhere in this country. How on earth would a state with less than 10% indegenous Christians a recruitment will be conducted and more than 65% of those recruited are Christians and most of them not within the political zone (though it is legal) Imagine a Muslim VC in federal institution in a Christian dominated state e.g. Imo or even plateau state in the north will employs 40% Muslims staffs and the people of the state will just fold their arms and let it be .. It never happened and will never happen in nigeria let's be fair to our selves

It isn't about ' you can't live with northerners' it's all about 'Northerners not willing to live with you people'
Just forget about the topic of the post which is misleading nobody says he doesn't want to leave with anybody, is all about fairness. Out of 12 ABU Zaria's VCs 5 are non Muslims how is that possible in the south
