LAUTECH ASUU welcomes proposed parents’ forum




The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, LAUTECH branch has described as a welcome development the proposed parents’ forum over the lingering crisis in the university.




A statement jointly signed by LAUTECH ASUU chairman and secretary, Dr. Biodun Olaniran and Dr. Toyin Abegunrin said forming a concerned parents of LAUTECH students forum to lend their voice to the crisis was good though should have come much earlier.




The union explained that issues that forced the lecturers to embark on indefinite strike remain unresolved.



It urged the parents to channel their energies at convincing the two owner states to be alive to their responsibility of funding the institution for a lasting solution to the problem.



The statement added that the proposed increase in tuition fees as a way of enhancing the revenue generation of the institution would further impoverish the already lean purses of parents hence it should be resisted.






Students left for FCT

Meanwhile, students of LAUTECH left for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja around 6 pm Tuesday to further present the situation int he University before the government at the centre on Wednesday.



Recall that the students had earlier visited Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State and Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, who are the two funding Governors of LAUTECH
