My sickle cell is harsh,
Pain gushes like a waterfall,
And I felt like screaming,
But the pain was hitting hard
So I moaned,
I wanted to cry but the pain was wailing
Even when I squeezed my eyes so water could drop,
It felt so dry like a desert,
My pain, my sickle cell

Mum felt like carrying it for me,
But my pain was meant for me,
My back strikes like thunderstorms hit me
My head bangs so hard like a hammer on a nail,
What a sorrowful moment for everyone around me,
They thought it was over
But I knew it just begun
Where are my rescuers, where is my rescuer

My eyes were closed, but I couldn't sleep
The pain is still here
What a visitor it is, an August visitor
I opened my eyes and saw someone in white
Are you an angel, or my creator
Is it my time? I asked myself,
Then I felt a sting in me,
Like that of a fully matured scorpion
I opened my eyes and it was a doctor
My pain is gone like I never had it
My pain was real like the cells in me
