I found out during my research that charcoal kills bad odour in the pen.This is very true as my local turkeys pen which used to smell bad anytime it rains now is with no odour.Charcoal works like magic but it makes pen and birds to look dirty.
There are other benefits of charcoal on animals and humans.

How does it work in eliminating odour like in battery cage system

How much did you buy this your scale

I don't use battery cage but I believe by putting some chunks of charcoal around the cage

Broilers - Obasanjo male line - 50,
sayed-50
Unknown hatchery - 50+10 extra(from a friend who is an experienced breeder in Ibadan)
Turkeys - 10(local and foreign)
I got them this morning,gave them double shot of glucose.
I'm starting them with breedwell feed.they say one can brood for 9+10 days with it...wait and see.
This is 3rd batch in my backyard...pls wish me luck

May the gods piss luck on you. You made a right choice by picking Breedwell feeds. I was at a farm in Okene on Thursday and I saw the wonder Breedwell feeds did on the poultry birds there. The only problem is, it's more expensive than the other feeds.

my backyard poultry consists of 50 - 18 days old broilers and 5 foreign turkey supplied by poultry plaza.
I also have 15 - 25 days old noilers which I got from a local hatchery here in Abuja.
They were all brooded together.From day 1 till today I am left with 43 broilers and 4 foreign turkey.i really don't know the cause of their death.
I moved all birds into their newly constructed house yesterday.i will be using this medium to tell yeupre about the birds as they grow.updates will be supported with pics

Culled my 1st batch,9 wks FIDAN broilers yesterday.Dressed and stored in the freezer for family consumption and to sell to neighbours and friends.

I wondered too.

Was surprised.It was just getting bad and they eventually died.guessed I started cayenne pepper too late.

I first noticed like bulge at rhe back of the leg and later like boil on the face around the eyes.
1-2spoon of cayenne pepper in 4ltr water.

My local turkey hen has been laying for somedays.i have 11eggs as at today,1 broke.
I hope the hen will be able to incubate and hatch.

No....not straight may be from their feed

Turkey eggs now 13 today.it was 11 eggs yesterday I guess another hen has started laying but I'm yet to discover which of the other 2 hens.
I'm keeping all the eggs together so that they will be incubated by one hen-hope this is right.

they can lay over 80eggs this way. so not sure one hen can cover all

Turkey eggs now 16.Not sure of the number of eggs a hen can incubate.
I lost one of my 12 weeks old Noiler today .It's a great loss,bird has grown so big.The cause is still not known.Started giving others antibiotics.
