sorry guys, i know people have tried to explain this but i can't seem to understand - the final table in group d is as follows

so if zambia and cameroun had the same number of points and goal difference and cameroun beat zambia, how did zambia end tops plus i just heard on BBC that we are meeting cameroun

FINAL WORD ON GROUP D TABLE:

Group D Placing explanation: Zambia first, Cameroon second


Following the result of the last matches in Group D, the three teams Cameroon, Zambia and Gabon have same number of points
In establishing the placing, direct confrontation between the teams are taken into consideration.
Gabon 1 Cameroon 0
Cameroon 3 Zambia 2
Zambia 2 Gabon 1

The goal difference is also the same
Zambia 4-4
Cameroon 3-3
Gabon 2-2

Zambia is first because of overall goals scored in Group D, Cameroon is second and Gabon is third.

Zambia topped Group D based on better fairplay than Cameroun.

Aieromon, thank you jare. Most people just dey yarn opata since dey blow grammar confuse themselves.
- Zambia, Cameroun & Gabon were tied on points (4 each) and had head to head against one other.
*Zambia had head to head against Gabon
*Cameroun had head to head against Zambia AND
*Gabon had head to head against Cameroun.
So the head to head cancelled itself out and couldn't be used to seperate the 3 teams
- Of these 3 teams, Cameroun had Goal Difference of +1, Zambia +1 & Gabon 0, hence Gabon was eliminated based on their having the LOWEST Goal Difference.
- Now between Cameroun & Zambia, there was the matter of who topped the group. Keep in mind that both teams had the same points (4), Goals For (5), Goals Against (4) and ultimately the same Goal Difference (+1).
- Therefore to seperate these two teams (Zambia & Cameroun) & to decide who came 1st, their fair play record was taken into consideration & Zambia got more points because it had the fewer no of yellow cards. Simple!

READ caf rules and cafonline then you will see how it was decided.FAIRPLAY was not the deciding factor.

Zambia had 4-and 4 against
Cameroon 3 and 3 against
Gabon 2 and 2 against

This was the deciding factor

The truth of the matter is we are giving CAF a face saving passage.

1.They messed up by not allowing Mali progress to the K.O stage.,there is no mention of head-head rule anywhere in their ridiculous regulation.If not why didn't they use this rule during the qualifing stages?They wanted Algeria to progress at all costs.CAF is still cleaning up their mess,they have a lot of explanation to make.

ARTICLE 14 says if a number of teams are tied on points then the following rules takes effect

14.1Greater number of points obtained in the matches between the concerned teams - In this case zambia ,cameroon and gabon scales through .

14.2 Best goal difference of all concerned teams- Zambia( GF 4, GA 4 , GD 0) ,cameroon( GF 3 ,GA 3, GD 0) and Gabon (GF 1 GA 1 ,GD 0).They all have GD 0.Lets get to the next stage lol.

NB-The key word is concerned teams,therefore goal scored or conceeded against tunisia is not brought into consideration.
14.3 Greater number of goals scored in the group matches between the concerned teams- only cameroon(GF 3) and zambia (GF 4)scales through.Gabon(GF 1) is ruled out and should TAKE THE NEXT FLIGHT BACK HOME

Therefore based on Article 14 subection 3.Zambia is first and Cameroon second


The remaining subsection are as follows
14.4 Greater number of away goals scored between concened teams-

14.5 Greatest Goal difference in all the group matches
14.6 Greatest number of goals scored in all the group matches
14.7 Casting of lots by the organizing commitee of CAF

U have answered your own question there. All teams have the same number of points but Zambia scored more goals(in matches between the 3 concerned teams). Thats why Zambia is first. SIMPLE as that!

soccer is all abt scoring goalz (beautiful n scrappy), so if Zambia scored more den they shud come topz in deir group which dey did.
