Despite winning the Premier League in his first season in England, things have not gone completely smoothly this summer for Antonio Conte.

He is yet to extend his contract, which runs to 2019 and a number of sources are reporting increased tension between him and Chelsea as the manager waits for the club to sign his transfer targets.

According to L’Equipe, the Italian is frustrated that Chelsea are reluctant to pay Everton’s asking price for striker Romelu Lukaku.

Meanwhile in Italy, Gazzetta dello Sport report the club are unhappy with how Conte has dealt with Diego Costa.

The striker was dropped in the winter after flirting with a move to China. He performed well when he came back into the side but confirmed last week Conte has told him he isn’t needed by text.

To make matters worse, the club has not delivered on Conte’s requests in the transfer market and the Italian does not believe the current squad is strong enough to compete in Europe.

As of yet, Chelsea have been unable to strike a deal for Tiemoué Bakayoko or Virgil van Dijk, as well as Lukaku.

Chelsea have been eager to open contract talks with Conte but that now seems further away than ever and is expected to remain that way unless he is given more control over transfers.

The manager spent his first year in London without his wife and daughter, who remained in Italy and are yet to move to the English capital.
