Extension Agent/Farm Administrator

Job description
A non-governmental organisation seeks a full-time Extension Agent/Farm Manager for its agribusiness desk which is the sustainability plan of the organisation. The successful candidate will be required to work from the organisation’s office and farm site(s) in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Only Ibadan-resident applicants will be considered.

The agribusiness department of the organisation addresses issues around value chain development for agribusiness actors and also runs its own facility where production of vegetables is on-going.

The candidate will be expected to provide general and operative support for the project by managing the farm and its operation; primarily crop production focused. He or she will also provide advisory insight into how to grow the project and coordinate human (farm workers, contract staff and third parties) and material resources to ensure timely delivery on targets and goals. In addition, the candidate will liaise with other Smallholder Farmers (SHFs) to fast track and smoothen designs for aggregation of vegetable with them. The Extension Agent will also be expected to embark on occasional travels for training and also provide technical and capacity strengthening support to the agribusiness clusters that we work with. The prospective candidate must be a good negotiator and be skilled in reducing production cost to ensure profit is maximised by the venture. The role requires willingness to travel within and outside the region at short notice.

We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented candidate, who is a proactive problem solver, excellent communicator (especially in Yoruba language) and team player. We are looking for a candidate who can work with little or no supervision and can excellently document processes and experiences on the job. We are looking for a bold candidate with street wisdom! A candidate with the ability to also share knowledge from his or her experience in vegetable production in a formal training setting is who we are looking for. He or she will report to the ProgrammesManager.

Candidate Profile
• A degree in agriculture is preferred with relevant field experience.
• Fluency in English (average writing and verbal skills) is required. Proficiency in other languages, especially Yoruba is a plus.
• Experience working on a farm in an administrative or technical role is desirable.
• Ability to use Microsoft office suite and ownership of a personal computer is desirable and preferred.

Remuneration and Location
A monthly remuneration of N30,000 is available for this role. Other benefits are also attached to the role.

ogbeni am self employed..i honestly kick against cheap labour..after 5yrs of studing agriculture in schl, you want that skills from someone for penny...nd you are talking abt other benefit that will NT be up to 10k..do you think to be a graduate na beans ...
