Many of you have DVD players and HD TV at home but don't know the different cables used in connecting them together. Let's enlighten you on the different cables available.

1. The first one is the 3 headed RCA connecting cables popularly known as the A/V cables that we described above. The term RCA is an abbreviation for Radio Corporation of America and the 3 headed RCA connector is that common AV cable that has the white, yellow and red plugs at both end of the cable. As we earlier said, most modern DVD players and HD TVs have the RCA connection port at their rear and these RCA cable is mainly used to connect DVD player to HD TV for AV input mode playing on the TV.

2. The second type of DVD player to HD TV connecting cable it the 5 headed RCA connecting cables and this particular one is known as component cable. Unlike the 3 headed yellow, white and red RCA cable described above for AV connection, the 5 headed red, white, blue, red and green RCA connecting cable is normally used for component connection at the rear of both the DVD payer and the HD TV. Most modern DVD players and HD TVs also have the component slots at their back and the input mode on your TV should be set to component when adopting this type of cable.

3. The last and the most digitalized of all is the HDMI cable. HDMI stands for High Definition Media Interface and this is entirely different looking cable with flat head unlike the others mentioned above with Pin heads. Most modern DVD players and HD TV also have support for HDMI cables.
