Some approximately two (2) years ago, after I quit my job as Head of Department (Computer Science) of a Secondary/High School in Ibadan, Oyo State (where I had to manually mark exam scripts, process and record scores, as well as produce transcripts for 800 students, twice, every single academic-term), I decided to build (from scratch), an Education Information Management System (EIMS) to automate the many processes in the Academic Setting, hence, the SCHOOLFORCE Project was born.

You can read about my original post on SCHOOLFORCE here: https://www.nairaland.com/2408426/schoolforcetm-powerful-school-management-software

After I debuted the app here on Nairaland, and garnered a few fans, I quickly ran into a number of challenges (primarily surrounding my financial resources) that prevented me from taking the project from its “here” to intended “there” – somewhat sad!

So, sometime last year, I scaled-back my plan, and thought to make the app a desktop-only app, protect it (for which I wrote an article here:https://www.codeproject.com/Articles/1116415/How-To-Protect-Your-NET-Code-Easily-And-For-Free), and then sell downloadable copies via the Internet. But then, I stumbled on the following piece of Information that would eventually change the course of the entire project:

Following the World Education Forum of year-2015, organized by UNESCO, together with UNHCR, The World Bank, UNICEF, and other World Bodies, and held in Incheon (Republic of Korea), ICT was identified as a key player in the efficient management and administration of education. The Forum birthed a declaration (dubbed the Incheon Declaration), whose overarching goal is stated below:

“To ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all”

The above declaration at the forum aims to be able to provide (among other things) free, equitable, quality Primary and Secondary Education for both boys and girls, by the year 2030, through the utilization of Open and affordable educational resources and technologies, such as Education Management Information Systems (EMISs), Massively Open Online Courses (MOOCs) etc.; as well as increase the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills (including technical and vocational skills) for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship.

Following the declaration, a “Framework for Action” was developed, approved, and signed on the 26th day of November, 2016 (that’s last year, depending on when you’re reading this).

Stumbling upon the above info changed my entire outlook on the software I was working on. My heart tugged me toward being a part of those who would fulfill such a noble cause, with the skills I already possess.

I therefore reasoned:

“If UNESCO’s Vision-2030 for Education was going to become a reality, then we’d need to have EdTech Startups that are willing to sacrifice short-term gains, in order to provide long-term value.”

Hence, the Open e-Mark Project was born. Open e-Mark is can do what SCHOOLFORCE said it could do THEN, but far more, NOW.
Open e-Mark is a unique, free-to-use, and freely-supported Education Information Management System for K-12 Schools that focuses on two (2) critical targets of UNESCO’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 – Education 2030:

1. To provide quality education, by fostering the use of Open and affordable ICTs and educational resources in institutions of learning.

2. To increase the number of youth and adults who have opportunities for employment, decent jobs, and entrepreneurship.
On those premises, Open e-Mark has a unique offering for two (2) groups of people:

1. A Free-to-use and freely-supported Education Information Management System for K-12 Institutions/Schools, primarily in Africa.

Be Your Own Boss

Did you get excited when you got your first software-affiliate deal that promised you 50% Commission on sale of the product? You’ll be more excited with what Open e-Mark offers you.

Okay, now, how about keeping 100% of the profit, all with zero (0) financial investment on acquiring the product? That’s exactly what Open e-Mark offers.

Here’s the low-down:

1. Get free access (plus free support, from the developer behind the project, not just from some Community of users) to a highly sought-after technology (Education Information Management Systems), crafted here in Nigeria, first, for Nigerians, and then for Africans as a whole. Service the schools under your belt, and keep 100% of the profit.

2. Make up-to N160, 000 per month or N480, 000 per quarter (with near-zero financial investment) or more (with as little investment as N3, 000) by signing-up schools on the Open e-Mark Platform and charging them for software-setup, training, support, and e-Mark Code Slips.

e-Mark Code Slip: These are small sheets of paper (bearing a Business Name and Logo), and containing codes that enable students, parents etc. to view and print students’ results/transcripts online. You’ll get the e-Mark Code Slips from us for only N100/slip, and then charge your clients whatever amount you like.

NB: It’s also possible to generate and print your own e-Mark Code Slips (bearing your own Logo and Business Name or those of the schools you manage), even for as low as N1.0 per slip. Read on, to find out how that’s possible, and how it can quickly turn you into a millionaire.

If the schools you manage prefer to generate and print the e-Mark Code Slips with their school name and Logo on the slip, then they can do so right from within the app; but you’ll need to become an Activated Partner for that feature to work.

You can elect to receive payments (for e-Mark Code Credits or even other apps you have enabled on your account) from your clients, by Cash or Direct Bank, and then, you can treat those payments from within your account’s Control Panel.
