The ban placed on the National Union of Road Transport Workers, by the Lagos State Government, may have been lifted as it members are back operating in Oshodi.

A visit by Bell Times to Oshodi on Tuesday, 4 July 2017 observed that NURTW members have gone back to the streets and roads of Oshodi.

It was observed that union members now operate on mufti unlike before the crisis when members operate with the white and green uniforms worn by NURTW members.

The Cele-Ilasa motor park was observed to have NURTW members operating under the full glares of security operatives drafted to oshodi to keep law and order.

The interstate park was also observed to have NURTW activities going on.

A motorist who crave anonymity, spoken to by Bell Times said NURTW operation began immediately after the said reported reconciliatory meeting.

“they are back on the street, major roads and collecting money. We don’t even know if government have lifted the ban or not, but NURTW are operating in Oshodi without anybody disturbing them” he said.

The Lagos State placed a ban on the activities of NURTW in Oshodi after Rasaq Bello, popularly known as Hamburger, a prominent member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW ) was shot dead in Shogunle Lagos during the local council primaries of the All Progressives Congress ( APC).

Hamburger was the Lagos State Treasurer of Tricycle Operators, a branch of NURTW.

Bello was allegedly shot on Monday by members of a rival gang allegedly led by one Samson Agbetoye, popularly known as Golden.

Effort to get the Lagos State Government reaction proved abortive, as message sent to the state government email address, (Info@lagosstate.gov.ng) on Tuesday, was not replied to.

The truth is that the Lagos state governement has no control over these guys and their menace in the transport sector, since they gave them free hand in the first place.

NURTW and RTEAN are denying the government of billions of naira worth of revenue, cause commotion and traffic, yet the LASG is silent cos of politics.

I look forward to they day when a governor in this state will be bold enough to eradicate the menace called "agbero" from the streets of Lagos. Sanity must be restored.
