That was how this news has unfolded, Bayern Munchen have announced the acquisition of 27 year old James Rodriguez From Real Madrid on a two-year loan deal with an option to buy.



The stand out favourites to sign the star after a hectic season, where he was a bit-part player, were Manchester United, Chelsea or PSG, Bayern were not even in the running.




Then Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti signed James Rodriguez from Monaco after a superb and wonderful World Cup campaign in 2014 for £71, which was the 4th most expensive transfer at that time. Rodriguez scored six goals in five matches to win the Golden Boot, helping Colombia reach the quarter finals. He scored 17 goals and made 17 assists for Madrid under Ancelotti in 48 appearances.




It was almost certain that James Rodriguez would leave Madrid having fall down the pecking order behind Isco and Gareth Bale, he was also not part of the Madrid squad for their Uefa Champions League Final against Juventus. He managed just 22 appearances last season.



Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said this about the transfer:



“We’re delighted we’ve been able to complete this transfer. Signing Rodriguez was our coach Carlo Ancelotti’s biggest wish, following their successful spell working together in Madrid,”



“James is a very versatile player. He’s a goalscorer himself, he sets up a lot of goals and on top of that he’s great from set-pieces. There’s no question that this transfer further increases the quality in our team.”
